Laura Santamaría

Laura Santamaría was born in Nice (France), and raised in a family of artists; her mother (flamenco dancer) is from Murcia and her father
(pianist-singer) from Italy. At young age she was academically formed in ballet, Spanish classic dance, flamenco and modern dance in the school of her mother; in workshops with teachers like Carmela Greco, La Tani, Mari Paz Lucena, Mercedes Ruiz, Belén Maya, Matilde Coral, Javier Latorre, Israel Galván, Adela Campallo, El Guito, La China, among others...
At the age of 15 she received a scholarship for one year in the the foundation of Christina Heeren, where she studied with Milagros Mengibar, Carmen Ledesma, Rafael Campallo... That same year, she was part of the spectacle of Carmen Ledesma that performed at multiple places of Seville, highlighting the Monte Theatre.
In the Andalusian capital, where she lives, she gains experience in the tablao El Patio Sevillano, and after that at the Dance Museum of Cristina Hoyos and the Tablao Cordobes in Barcelona. She took clases with Alicia Márquez (where she also gave clases), Pilar Ortega, Juan De los Reyes, Andrés Peña, Pilar Ogalla, Manuel Betanzos...

Although she is really young she has won several awards: in 2008 she got the first prize in the contest of young Flamenco artists in Calasparra (Murcia), in 2009 the fourth place in  “La Calahorra flamenca” (Córdoba), and the third prize “por alegrías”
in the Contest “La Perla de Cádiz”.
