Cordobes continues its program, loyal to its values of the best flamenco. "The Aristocracy of Flamenco" is a cycle that by the quality and fame of artists from two different generations, converts the Cordobes in the unquestionable heir of the most important and historical tablaos of Spain.
This stage has been a reference of authenticity for more then 40 years, in which we have demonstrated that the authentic, besides being fun, can be really emotional when is for real; and "The Aristocracy of Flamenco" is a big adventure that the audience experience in order to discover a art that represents a Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

'The Aristocracy of the Flamenco'. Program
- The Jerez dancer Antonio El Pipa for many the sponge of the most ancient essences of flamenco, opened on December 22nd this cycle, until January 21st.
- The cycle continues (9th of January – 22nd of January) with one of our Catalan stars of flamenco, Duquende, accompanied by the beloved Carrete, and in contrast to other young catalan star of dancing, Jesús Carmona. Contrast that promises to break many schemes.
- From 23rd of January, and until the 7th of February the voice of pure Triana of Remedios Amaya.
- Back in February, (8th until 22nd of February) we pass on dancing with the suns of the dynasty of the Farruco. El Farru presents his brother El Carpeta, prodigy of only 11 years.
- From February 23rd to March 5th , Cordoba can boast of having achieved exclusively an event that the fans had been waiting for a long time: the three child prodigy of nowadays meet in our Tablao: Amós Lora, guitar, Abraham Motos, sing, and El Carpeta, dance, will give us a lesson for the future.
- Close the cycle, from March 6th , two amazing women: the mythical singer The Susi, already with more than 20 albums in her great career, and the woman who for many is the one that better illustrates the current feminine flamenco: Pastora Galván, prestigious part of a tremendous dynasty of the aristocracy of the flamenco: the Galván family.
In the cycle "The Aristocracy of the Flamenco" (II) the Catalan flamenco singer DUQUENDE performs at the Tablao Cordobés from the 9th to the 22nd of January (both inclusive).
Duquende, one of the greatest of the current Flamenco, has recently become famous to the general public after performing on the award cermony of the “Principe Asturias Awards” to Leonard Cohen.
Duquende will be accompanied by an impressive lineup of artists, which promises to be a spectacle for fans to remember for life.
ON DANCE
Two of the very interesting characters that will perform with him on stage, are going to provide us a huge contrast:
* The veteran Carrete, a charismatic character that we presented in Barcelona for the first time in our previous edition of "The Aristocracy of the Flamenco", and received overwhelming critics and ended up being interviewed for the main culture spot of LaVanguardia newspaper, and invited to the Festival of Ciutat Vella. Symbol of authentic flamenco art and grace immediately connects to the public.
* Young Jesús Carmona. Another of the many important Catalan artist of flamenco, soloist of the National Ballet of Spain has a extreme technique, sense of rhythm and singing… just spectacular, is the current flamenco by excellence, played at a such a high level that is hardly surmountable.
* Female contrast will be provided by the gaditana Claudia Cruz and the Catalan Susana Escoda.
ON SINGING
El Coco. This great Catalan singer recently starred in the documentary "Bajarí, the Barcelona Calé" directed by Eva Vila, University Pompeu Fabra.
Manuel Tañé and Rubio Pruna. Every fan knows that these two great singers are indisputable the best singers of Spain to follow the dancing.
ON GUITAR
David Cerreduela, reference in the flamenco guitar and a star on itself.
El Tuto: This young Catalan has co-starred together with El Coco the documentary "Bajarí, the Barcelona Calé" by Eva Vila, University Pompeu Fabra.
Luis Miguel Manzano, young guitarist from the illustrious lineage of the Pelaos.
In addition, in the cycle “The aristocracy of Flamenco”, which will continue until mid-April, you can enjoy in the vicinity of the Tablao some of the most important artists of this art:
Juan Cortés ‘Duquende’, from a gipsy family, was born in Sabadell on 1965. By the age of 8 years old, the huge Camarón de la Isla invited him to debut on stage, being by his own side with the guitar.
Besides the interest showed by the promoters and record labols, his professional carrer don´t start until 1992. That year, Duquende starts a brilliant carrer that takes his to the main theaters and Spanish auditoriums; such as Palau de la Musica of Barcelona, the National Music Auditorium of Madrid, etc..
The was also part of the movie “Flamenco” by Carlos Saura. In 1996 recites in the Theâtre des Champs Élysées, being the first singer ever to be invited to this theater, where he performs regularly since then. In December 1998, performs together with the guitar player Tomatito.
Together with Duquende, has been colaborating important guitar players of the actual flamenco such as Juan Habichuela, Tomatito, Juan Manuel Cañizares, Moraíto Chico and Vicente Amigo. Nowadays, particurly strict with Juan Gómez ‘Chicuelo’.
He recorded 5 albums in total: the last three ones are “Samaruco”, that counts with the musical direction of Isidro Muñoz and the partnership with Juan Manuel Cañizares y Paco de Lucía, ‘Mi forma de Vivir’ produced by ‘Chicuelo’, with the special performance of Niño Josele and Paco de Lucía and the live show “Live in Cirque d’Hiver Paris”.
Is also important to mention his last partnerships: *the performance of the song “Soy Gitano” together with the Guarda Civil Band on the XV Music Awards; *in the album of Anoushka Shankar, “Travelled” with the theme “Si no puedo verla”; *in the album “Los flamencos cantan a Serrat”; *with “Mi Gitana” and “La Nana del Caballo Grande” in the tribute concert to Leonard Cohen on the Principe de Asturias Awards; between many others.
Paco de Lucía, which he follows for many years now, on his national and international tours, speaks about him: “You have a monster in Barcelona, Duquende, that has the magic of singing, inspiration and technic.”
